My work is inspired by nature. I draw forms from trees, waterfalls, volcanoes, and stones, and also look to prehistoric art for inspiration.
When I first started working with nature as my muse, I initially focused solely on trees and tree roots. My 'Dancer' series is an example of this. After working and reworking with trees, I discovered that stones and mountains also had different stories to tell. Gradually, I began exploring the various elements nature has to offer.
Thematically, my works are often autobiographical or refer to events in the world around us, exploring relationships of all kinds, conflicts, and confrontations. Sometimes I also draw inspiration from world literature, such as Shakespeare and Greek mythology.
For me, the most important aspect of my work is to tell a story and to reveal different facets of human nature, to reflect society. Just as in literature, my art reflects society, bringing forth various emotions like jealousy, despair, ingratitude, and love.
Furthermore, I enjoy creating satirical paintings, which also serve as a commentary on a situation in (my) life. These pieces often highlight the tragicomic side of relationships.
Ultimately, my work is about telling stories, and I want to share those stories with people.
